Nutrition education in vocational schools can prepare students with diplomas and certificates for careers related to good nutrition. Nutrition training can qualify graduates for designing nutrition programs and preparing workout schedules for others, teaching and consulting services, and much more.
Nutrition schools address the growing field of health, and the growing concerns about issues related to food produced with fertilizers and pesticides and with the increasing introduction of genetically modified foods to market shelves.
Public concern is bringing about more interest in nutrition training as people begin taking a more active role in their personal wellbeing. Lifestyle consultants with nutrition education are in demand, and healthcare professionals are showing more interest in expanding their knowledge and integrating complementary healthcare into their practices.
Nutrition schools teach management of personal health and fitness as well as changing one's lifestyle, managing and reducing stress, and preventing injury. Students are taught about general and sports nutrition for improved health and performance. Nutrition programs cover the food sciences to teach skills of nutrition counseling, nutrition therapy, and dietetics for treating clinical conditions, health concerns, and weight loss.
Nutrition education can include subjects related to cardiovascular disease, immune systems, diabetes, eating disorders, food intolerance, food allergies, hypertension, and stress reduction. Students may participate in computerized nutritional analysis, meal planning, patient education, behavioral modification, body composition analysis, managing personal health, injury prevention, sports nutrition, the promotion of lifestyle changes, and fitness evaluation.
